Hashtag Politics | UP recruitment exam: Rahul shares photo of overcrowded train coach; attacks PM Modi over ‘job crisis’

On Saturday, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to share an image depicting numerous candidates cramped inside an overcrowded train coach, ostensibly on their way to participate in a government job examination. Rahul Gandhi alleged that the youth are undergoing hardship due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s apparent indifference, emphasizing that the promised two crore jobs per year remain unfulfilled.

The eligibility test for recruitment in state government jobs by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) is taking place over the weekend, exclusively for candidates with Uttar Pradesh domicile. Rahul Gandhi asserted that more than 37 lakh individuals have applied for the eligibility test.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also joined the criticism, sharing images of students either struggling to board trains or waiting on platforms. She accused the UP government of prioritizing revenue from the sale of job forms over creating job opportunities or ensuring proper exam arrangements.

In one photograph, the train coach is so densely packed that every available space is occupied, leaving no room even for standing. The Congress party has consistently criticized both the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh and the central government over what they perceive as a ‘job crisis.’
